There's a long list of things to do and try on the "healthy life" track, and up near the top next to solid sleep and hard exercise is clean nutrition.
Paleo is simple (it's certainly not low-carb); for 2 meals a day just eat a chunk of protein the size of your palm (could be beef, chicken, fish, emu, etc) and fill the rest of your plate with salad. Wash it down with a couple of cups of water a day and you're set. Right?
It is an excellent start, and really, a fine finish, but if you're looking for some of that extra zip and zazzle, especially as you do more of that hard exercise we mentioned above and your joints start to ache, we're big fans of bone broth.
You can (and should) definitely make your own, but if you just don't have time, our friends over at Pete's Paleo have a solid bone broth & gut healing kit we think you'll dig.
Why is bone broth so important? Well, it goes back to the old adage; "eat what is hurting you"; if your joints are hurting or achy, bone broth (made from the bones & joints of animals) can provide the nutrients you need to repair what's broken, worn down, or just over used in your body.
Additionally, bone broth can help heal your gut, and if you haven't heard how important gut health is, well, damn, you probably haven't been on the internet that long. The key ingredients of bone broth (collagen, minerals, and cartilage) all contribute towards helping to heal and seal a leaky gut, which is at base of many folks's problems; skin & hair issues, chronic fatigue, and nutritional deficiencies.
We've used bone broth over the past few years and really dig it not just the good-for-ya nutritional content, but also for the glorious snap of hot fat on the tongue that comes with the first sip on a chilly morning.
Enjoy!
